1.3.1 Differentiate between the responsibilities of national and provincial governments in ensuring safe and healthy living conditions for all citizens. 

In order to ensure safe and healthy living conditions for all citizens, both the national and provincial governments play essential roles. Below are the key responsibilities of each level of government:

  • The national government plays a crucial role in promoting safe and healthy living conditions for the entire country. It creates, amends, carries out, implements, and approves laws that are aimed at ensuring the well-being of all citizens. These laws are designed to have a nationwide impact, addressing health and safety concerns on a national scale. On the other hand, the provincial government is responsible for creating, carrying out, implementing, and approving laws that affect their own provinces exclusively. These laws are tailored to address specific regional needs and challenges, recognizing the diversity of conditions across different provinces.
  • In addition to creating laws, the national government establishes legislation and standards for safe and healthy living throughout the nation. This provides a comprehensive framework to guide provincial governments in their efforts to ensure the well-being of their respective populations. The provincial government’s role comes into play as they ensure that local governments within their province conform with these national policies and standards. 1.3.2  Explain ONE way in which you could adapt community sports games to accommodate people with different disabilities. 

By implementing the following adaptations, community sports/games can become more inclusive and accessible to people with different disabilities. This approach ensures that everyone has the opportunity to engage, contribute, and enjoy physical activities while fostering a sense of unity and support among participants.

Pairing People with Disabilities and Able-bodied Individuals:

    • Pair people with disabilities with able-bodied individuals or rotate teams regularly. This way the able-bodied individuals provide support and assistance to disabled participants to complete the physical activity.

Adjusting Physical Activity with Suitable Equipment:

    • Adjust the physical activity and utilize specialized equipment that accommodates disabled participants and  ensure the activity is safe and fair to all

Visual Rule Explanation:

    • Besides verbal communication, Incorporate visual aids, such as pictures or diagrams, to explain or modify game rules to accommodate participants with disabilities who might struggle with verbal instructions..

Flexible Timing and Breaks:

    • Allow for flexible timing or breaks between games/sports activities, this enables disabled participants to recover and manage exhaustion effectively.

The following factors below have greatly influenced my beliefs and shaped how i interact with the world

  • Early relationships with family and/or friends: My close bond with family and friends for example, has enabled me to grow up in a supportive and open-minded family which has led me to believe in the importance of empathy and understanding others.
  • Significant life experiences: Transformative experiences, like traveling to different countries, have broadened my horizons and shaped my values. For instance, volunteering in a distant community has led me to believe in the power of cross-cultural understanding.
  • Influential people/influencers: Exposure to role models and mentors has impacted my beliefs. For example, my early exposure to the works of a social justice advocate has led me to believe in equality and human rights.
  • Cultural and traditional beliefs:  Being part of a community that values communal harmony has led me to a belief in fostering unity and cooperation.
  • Religion: Religious beliefs emphasize compassion and have cultivated a belief in the importance of helping those in need.
  • Media exposure: The media you consume can shape your worldview. My engagement with documentaries about environmental issues has led to a belief in the need for sustainable living.
  • Upbringing and education: Education can instill core values. Attending a school that promotes critical thinking has empowered me to believe in the importance of evidence-based decision-making.
  • Positive and negative events/situations: Personal experiences can shape your resilience. Overcoming adversity, such as recovering from a health challenge, might lead to a belief in the strength of the human spirit.

1.4.2   Define the term ideologies.

Ideologies are the cornerstone ideas that define a particular group of people, encompassing a spectrum of political, social, and economic concepts. These principles are inherent to the group, describing what they fervently believe in and adhere to.

Ideologies are more than just abstract concepts; they form an integral part of the group’s distinct identity, shaping their perspectives and actions. They are the mindsets that a society collectively conforms to, serving as the guiding principles that govern its functioning. They serve as the defining elements of their uniqueness and individuality and hold significant influence over the group, molding how they perceive and interact with the world around them.
